Histoty of Capoeira
Capoeira is an African/Brazilian art form that is several hundred years old. It is neither a dance nor a martial art but rather both and a little more. Capoeira is a dialogue through movement, which can develope into an infinite amount of nuances and meanings. Capoeira is unique in the sense that it contains self-defense, acrobatics, rythm and music. All in one. The details and the historical background involving this martial art-dance are old and the more ancient aspects are still debated today. The enslaved Africans played an important roll in its development. Some historians suggest that the slaves used Capoeira´s dance-like style to conceal their martial art and self-defense training.
